Obituary, Charlotte Anna Odell McMillan

Union Vale – Charlotte Anna Odell McMillan, 86, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at her home on December 3rd, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Born November 1st, 1931 in Cold Spring, New York, she was the daughter of Willis and Georgianna Knapp Odell. Charlotte was employed at IBM at the Education Center in Poughkeepsie until her retirement. She was a faithful member of the Wiccopee Community Methodist Church; member and volunteer guide for the Van Wyck Homestead; member of the Independence Belles; and member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Melzingah Chapter, where she was active for several years, having served as an officer and chairwoman of several committees. She volunteered at Castle Point VA for many years. She was very proud to have fundraised for the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Catherine and Timothy Snook, Keith McMillan, Daniel McMillan, Bruce and Robyn McMillan, Colleen and Jeff Hunt; her eight grandchildren, Amanda Barnes, Laurel Snook, Jay McMillan, Kristopher McMillan, Keith McMillan, Riann McMillan, Bridget McMillan, and Blake Hunt; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Janice Odell, Ena “Tiny” Odell, and Dorothy Odell.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Odell, Willis Wesley Odell, Charles Odell, and George Odell; as well as her sisters, Reeda Dubois, Olga Taylor, and Elizabeth Patton.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Wiccopee Community United Methodist Church, 7 Old Grange Road, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will follow at 12 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
