PRESS RELEASE

Continuing the long standing Sullivan County tradition, NYS Environmental Conservation Police Officers partnered up with NYS Troopers for the opening weekend of the 2017 Big Game hunting season.  The officer teams, known as the Green & Grey Patrols, were once again successful in opening weekend saturation patrols.  These patrols give our Sullivan County ENCON Officers the ability to safely and effectively patrol the entire county.  They also help to ensure the safety of  hunters, landowners, neighbors and motorists.

During the four day detail, held November 18-21, the officers investigated 31 complaints and initiated criminal actions which resulted in 100 charges (18 misdemeanor and 82 violation level offenses).  Eight antlered deer, five antlered deer heads and two bear were confiscated, along with 71 pounds of processed venison.

As the season continues, these law enforcement agencies remind everyone to be safe, whether it be in the woods, at home or on the roadways.
