Putnam Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit Records Arrests

in Mahopac, Southeast & Putnam Valley

 

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports recent drug arrests made by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU). The arrests took place in Mahopac, Southeast and Putnam Valley.

Mr. Matthew Slader, aged 36, of 24 Bloomer Road in Mahopac, was arrested on November 10, 2017 and charged with three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, all felonies. According to criminal complaints filed in Carmel Justice Court, Mr. Slader allegedly sold the controlled prescription drug Suboxone to an undercover deputy sheriff on three separate occasions. It is also alleged that he was found in possession of heroin when he was arrested. He was arraigned before Carmel Town Justice Joseph Spofford and was remanded to the county jail lieu of $2,500.00 cash bail or $5,000.00 bail bond. He posted cash bail on November 11th to secure his release while awaiting further court action.


Mr. John Power, aged 20, of 9 Highview Terrace in the Town of Southeast, was arrested on November 11, 2017 on charges of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (two counts) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, all felonies. According to criminal complaints filed in Southeast Justice Court, Mr. Power allegedly sold prescription medications and cocaine to an NEU undercover deputy sheriff on multiple occasions. He was arraigned on the charges before the Town of Carmel Justice Joseph Spofford, who remanded him to the county jail in lieu of $2,500.00 cash bail or $5,000.00 bail bond. The defendant posted the cash bail later on the same day to secure his release pending further court proceedings.


Mr. Albert Tapia, aged 24, of 93 Lake Drive in Putnam Valley, was arrested by the NEU on November 13, 2017. Mr. Tapia was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, both felonies. In complaints filed in Putnam Valley Justice Court, Mr. Tapia is accused of allegedly selling heroin to an undercover NEU deputy. The defendant was arraigned before Putnam Valley Town Justice Louis DiCarlo and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $5,000.00 cash bail or $10,000.00 bail bond pending a future court date. He remains held in the jail as of the date of this article.
