Obituary, Constance “Connie” Blaney Dalzell

 

Constance “Connie” Blaney Dalzell, a long-time resident of Pawling, NY died on November 15, 2017 at home.  She was 94.

The only child of Louis and Mildred (Rouse) Blaney, she was born in Brewster, NY on July 29, 1923.  When she was 5, her parents moved to the Milltown area of Brewster, NY and she attended Milltown Rural School and Brewster High School, graduating in 1941.  Prior to her marriage, she was employed by NYSEG for 15 years, and then at Daniel P. Mossman for 8 years.

On November 10, 1963 in the Pawling United Methodist Church she married Chester Dalzell.  Thereafter, she assisted Chet with the secretarial and bookkeeping/billing at his printing business, the Dalzell Press.  After a number of years, they sold the business, and Connie and Chet retired.

Connie is survived by Chet, her husband of 54 years, at home; son Craig Dalzell and his wife Yvonne of Pawling; step-daughter Linda Dorrer of Pine Plains; step-son Clark Dalzell and his wife Sandy of Saratoga Springs; four step-grandchildren; a step-grandchild; several cousins; many friends, including special friend, Jessica Strang; and her beloved grand-dog, Snowball.

Besides having been a polio survivor at age 8, Connie was a gifted cook and homemaker, a top-notch bingo player, and a serious shopper.  Her passing brings an end to her long struggle with COPD, and she is now at peace.

Calling hours are Saturday, November 18th from 5-7 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling.  The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Sunday, November 19th at 2 PM.  Burial will follow in Pawling Cemetery.
