Pawling Resident Wins PCSB Bank Community Cook-Off

PCSB BANK CROWNS WINNER OF HEALTHY EATING COMMUNITY COOK-OFF

Yorktown Heights, NY, November 16, 2017 – PCSB Bank announced Raymond Patchey and his Mediterranean squash casserole as the winner of the 2017 Healthy Eating Community Cook-Off on Nov. 7, 2017. In collaboration with NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital and the American Heart Association, the event was held amidst the fresh offerings of the hospital’s Farmers Market in Cortlandt Manor.

“It’s wonderful to bring people together for this important event that illustrates how you can create heart-healthy recipes that are absolutely delicious,” says Joseph D. Roberto, chairman, president and chief executive officer of PCSB Bank. “It exemplifies our commitment as a true community bank to the people in the areas we serve – from helping them achieve financial success to sponsoring health-focused initiatives.”

Nearly 100 recipe entries were submitted from residents throughout Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, and Rockland counties. The Cook-Off then featured four selected finalists presenting their heart-healthy and delicious dishes:

  • Sue Lynam’s bowties with spinach, garlic and ricotta;
  • Donna Hermiston’s no fat banana bread;
  • Jackie Schwartz’s vegetarian chili; and
  • Raymond Patchey’s first place Mediterranean squash casserole.

Robert Farrier, senior vice president of retail banking at PSCB Bank, served as MC at the event, introducing the enthusiastic participants and their savory recipes. The entries were judged by Joseph Roberto; Leslie Lampert, executive chef of Love Hospitality and a former senior editor of Ladies’ Home Journal; and Emilie Berner, chef and coordinator at the Peter X. Kelly Teaching Kitchen at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.

Raymond Patchey, a Pawling resident, said he created his Mediterranean squash casserole because his kids didn’t like vegetables and he sought more tempting ways to offer healthy options. He has often traded recipes with bank tellers and managers at his local PCSB Bank Pawling branch, where he has been a customer for more than 20 years. “I truly appreciate the personalized approach to banking at PCSB,” he said. “The bank always has taken very good care of my entire family.”

Mr. Patchey won the grand prize of an Apple Watch, while finalists received a Fitbit wristband. In the end, all participants and spectators walked away winners, with fresh insight into how to cook healthier, tastier dishes.
