The Season of Giving at the Pawling Resource Center

By Susan Stone

The busiest season for The Pawling Resource Center has arrived, as the PRC readies to provide to community members in need this holiday season.

The Resource Center Food bank is supplying the turkeys and fixings for holiday meals, with donated turkeys and plentiful side items donated from Dave MacMillan and other community members. Holiday Sunshine Baskets have been prepared by volunteers from United Way and Trinity Pawling and are being distributed.

Additionally, the holiday food drive is in full swing, with large holiday donations already received from Pawling Karate and Catholic Daughters and additional food drives expected next week from Mizzentop Day School, Pawling schools, I Heart/Catholic Charities food drive, and Assemblyman Lalor.  Further, Holiday Hannaford’s boxes and Acme bags have begun arriving at the Food Pantry.

The Adopt-a-Family program is now open for Adopters and Adoptees. Those interested can sponsor a family that has limited resources and is unable to provide a meaningful holiday experience on their own. For those potential family Adopters, sign-up is open until December 4th, and all gifts need to be delivered to the Resource Center by December 12th.  Those wishing to sign their families up to be Adopted must also register by December 4th. Resource Center Director Terry Ariano is currently looking for some Holiday Angels for this worthy program. Guidelines for all may be picked up at the Center at 126 East Main Street in Pawling village.
