New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks and Troop K Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate the 12-year-old homicide of Angel Serbay of Yonkers, New York.

On September 3, 2005 at approximately 8:18 a.m., the New York State Police were dispatched to the northbound side of the Sprain Brook Parkway, just north of the Jackson Road overpass, to investigate the discovery of human remains.

A passing motorist contacted police after he observed what appeared to be a body covered by a yellow tarp discarded on the side of the parkway.

The victim, later identified as Angel Serbay, a 25-year-old woman who was residing in Yonkers, was discovered wrapped in animal print bed sheets wearing jeans, a blue, white, and black striped halter top, and black New Balance sneakers.  The Westchester County Medical Examiner determined that Angel Serbay died as a result asphyxiation by strangulation.

Angel Serbay is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5’4”, 138 pounds, with a tribal rose tattoo on her left upper arm, a tribal rose tattoo on her right ankle, and a tattoo with initials on her left hand. Angel Serbay was last seen in the proximity of 160 Willow Street, Yonkers, NY, at approximately 3:00 a.m. on September 3, 2005.

The death of Angel Serbay continues to be actively investigated by Troop K Major Crimes who has developed information that she may have been in the company of Christopher Gonzalez, 36.
