Canaan, New York – On October 26, 2017 the New York State Police from the New Lebanon barracks and Livingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Eric Allen, age 48, of High Point, NC, for Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 1st Degree, a Class C Felony, and James Brown, age 62, of High Point, for Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 1st Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor

Troopers observed the suspect’s vehicle on State Route 295 traveling thirty miles an hour above the lawfully posted speed limit.  Investigation after the traffic stop found Allen and Brown were in possession of approximately 15 pounds of marihuana.  Additionally, Brown possessed five hydrocodone pills.

Allen and Brown were arraigned before the Town of Chatham Justice Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.  Allen and Brown are scheduled to appear before the Court on October 31, 2017, at 12:00 PM.
