Foodstock Charity Concert Hosts 10th Anniversary Show

Raising Money and Food for Hudson Valley Non-Profit Organizations

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY: On Saturday, November 18, 2017 hundreds will gather at the Chance Theatre for a love of music and a desire to help their community.  The 10th annual Foodstock Charity Concert will feature 6 bands and the show begins at 5:00 PM.  Tickets are only $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

A Thanksgiving staple in the Hudson Valley for 10 years, this annual event has raised over $50,000 to feed people in need, while providing a diverse and extraordinary musical line-up.  This year the Foodstock Fund, a local non-profit, is welcoming Sponge as the headlining band for Foodstock 10.  With another incredible line-up and a close partnership with Dutchess Outreach, the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie, and the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, Foodstock is expected to help raise more food and money than ever!

Foodstock was founded by two friends and Hudson Valley natives, Lorenzo Angelino, a local attorney and Ryan Michael, Web Coordinator at SUNY New Paltz. “Our goal is for Foodstock to always build upon the previous year,” said Michael. “Even as we’ve worked with national acts over the past few years, our formula really hasn’t changed. Foodstock will always feature diverse, local musicians, and the proceeds will always go toward helping our neighbors right here the Hudson Valley community.”

Gold-Record selling, Detroit-based band Sponge will bring their electrifying set to the Chance stage for the first time in several years.  The band will play their album Rotting Piñata in its entirely, including the huge radio and MTV hits, “Plowed” and “Molly (Sixteen Candles).”  They will also perform hits such as “Have You Seen Mary” from their album Wax Ecstatic.

In addition to Sponge, this year’s well-rounded line-up will feature NYC’s punk outfit Ruth Ruth, performing songs including their hit, “Uninvited”, as well as a Foodstock favorite, Sirsy, who will return to the Foodstock stage for their 8th year. Local band Snaphammer – the only band to play every Foodstock event- will also return, and newcomers Rachael Hendricks, Story Charlemagne, and DJ Joey Hernandez will round out the line-up.

Doors will open promptly at 5:00 PM and non-perishable food items will be collected at the door.  As always, all proceeds will benefit local family and food-based charities.  Tickets are available now at the Chance Theater box office, www.ticketweb.com, or by calling the Chance at (845) 471-1966.
