Obituary, William J. Kane

 

UNION VALE – William J. Kane, 57, an area resident since 1982, died on October 20, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He previously lived in East Islip, Long Island.

William was born on March 31, 1960 in Flushing, Queens. He attended East Islip High School, where he was a star football lineman as #64. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from University of Albany, his Master’s Degree from Pace University, and continued at Harvard University for his Executive MBA. William, a client executive, began working for IBM in Manhattan in 1982.

On October 25, 1986 at St. Mary’s, Our Lady of the Falls in Wappingers Falls, William married Constance (Mandarano) Kane who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, James Kane of Union Vale, Daniel Kane of Washington, DC, and Chrissy Kane of Cold Spring; his mother, Winifred (Garvin) Kane; his brothers and their spouses, Christopher Kane and Leigh Ann Murtha-Kane, Robert and Linda Kane, and Thomas and Joan Marie Kane; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. William was predeceased by his father, James E. Kane.

William enjoyed boating, sailing, and clamming, especially on the Great South Bay, Long Island. He loved coaching, especially when it came to his kids. He served as CYO basketball coach and as a coach for youth basketball, softball, baseball, and football teams. He was an avid NY Yankees fan, and was looking forward to seeing them win the 2017 World Series. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at  895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
