Millerton – Mary Jane Shufelt, 63, a thirty eight year resident of Millerton, NY formerly of Lakeville, CT died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Shufelt was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, CT for over twenty eight years.
Born July 6, 1954 in Sharon, CT she was the daughter of the late Robert and Marion (Cardoza) Thurston. She attended Housatonic Valley Regional High School and graduated with the class of 1972. On November 15, 1980 in Ancram, NY she married Kenneth Shufelt. Mr. Shufelt died in 2004. Mrs. Shufelt enjoyed working at Noble Horizons and cherished spending time with her loving family and her beloved grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Mrs. Shufelt is survived by her loving son and daughter, Kenneth Shufelt of Millerton and Christina Varelli of Chatham, NY four grandchildren; Kaylee Shufelt and Cadance Shufelt of Millerton and Brody and Anya Varelli of Chatham, her sister, Martha Ann Thurston of Hudson, two brothers; Robert J. Thurston and his wife Esther of Richmond, VA and William Thurston and his wife Kathy of Pine Plains, NY and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 2-5pm at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton, NY 12546. Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11am at the funeral home. Pastor William Mayhew will officiate. Burial will follow at Irondale Cemetery in Millerton.
