Hyde Park man killed in Town of North East crash

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a two-car fatal crash which occurred on State Route 22 near Irondale Road in the Town of North East at approximately 1:15 pm on 10/7/17.
Preliminary investigation has shown that a 1990 Nissan pickup operated by Brian S. Sherow (age 53 of Hyde Park) was traveling southbound on Route 22 near Irondale Road when it crossed over the center pavement markings and struck a northbound 2016 Chevrolet pickup operated by Eftichia Amouris (age 49 of Hillsdale NY). Mr. Sherow was transported to Sharon Hospital in Connecticut where he was pronounced dead, and Ms. Amouris was initially transported to Sharon Hospital but then later transferred to Vassar Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Village of Millerton Police, the Millerton Fire Department, Northern Dutchess Paramedics, and the Copake Community Rescue Squad. At this time no charges have been filed, the investigation is continuing by members of the Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit, and more information may be released as it becomes available.
