John Thomes ~ Your County Legislator in the 23rd District

 

John Thomes, a resident of Pawling since 1958, is chairman of the Family and Human Services Committee.  He currently sits on the Stop DWI committee, and the Government Services and Benefit Assessment.  He fought to keep the County Department of Motor Vehicle office in Pawling which gets approximately 9,000 – 11,000 people using it annually.  He also worked to get the Seniors Nutrition Site restored and got them an extra day this year.

 

  • Voted for county budget that has lowered taxes for the last 3 years
  • A volunteer driver for the Pawling Resource Center
  • Has never charged or accepted mileage allotment from the county
  • Supports shared services agreement to help save money and provide better service at the local and county level
  • An advocate for Dutchess Community College, John is proud of the agreement between Dutchess Community College and Dutchess County Airport
  • John is supporting the proposed county site in Pawling for electric car “fill up”
  • Maintaining 98% average attendance at county meetings for the 7 ½ years he has served
  • Former Mayor for the Village of Pawling and retired from the NY Air National Guard at Stewart. A recipient of Meritorious Service Award from the United States Air Force.  Life member Pawling Fire Dept and Pawling Lions Club
  • Honored our heroes by voting to authorize Dutchess County to assume ownership of the Dutchess County War Memorial
  • Finished thirty-one marathons
  • In high school, did 512 consecutive sit ups
  • Hudson Valley Renegades Fan – Quality of Life
