Obituary, Michael Fimbel

 

Millbrook – Michael Fimbel, 68 of Millbrook, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at his residence after a long illness.

Born in Poughkeepsie on June 18, 1949, he was the son of the late Thomas and Jean Becker Fimbel. Mike was an oil burner technician for Paul Jay Haight Oil Co. and retired from Love Effron Oil Co. after many years of service. He was a member of Teamster’s Union Local #456. He was a life member of Millbrook Fire Co. where he served as a line officer, board member and Past Fire Chief. Mike was also a member of Washington Hollow Rod and Gun Club as well as Amenia Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Ontario and was an avid deer hunter, often teaching aspiring deer hunters. He also was a die hard Yankee fan. Despite his gruff exterior he was a very generous man with his time, had a heart of gold and was a kind and gentle soul.

Mike is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jennifer Ervin Fimbel at home; his children, Megan Fimbel of Woods Hole, MA., Amber Fimbel of Poughkeepsie, and Tara Rotella and her husband Ron of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Ron, Cheyenne, Shawn, Madison; great grandson Carson; and his sister, Patricia Tompkins and her husband Wayne. He was predeceased by his son, Shawn Fimbel, USAF in 1997.

There will be no calling hours and services will be at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank Lee, Pam and Mary from Hudson Valley Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during Mike’s illness.
