BNR congratulates its client, legendary director Hype Williams, on being an honoree on VH1’s HIP HOP HONORS.

Hype will be honored for his revolutionary music videos and contributions to hip-hop.  This special event will be broadcast onSeptember 18th, 2017 at 8pm on VH1. The program is hosted by Regina Hall with Missy Elliott performing and Mariah Carey and Martin Lawrence as co-honorees.   Hype was the definitive music video director in the 90’s. His fish-eye lens helped to shine the spotlight on such top-selling artists as Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., Pharrell Williams, Coldplay, John Legend, Beyonce, Nas, DMX, Missy Elliott and P. Diddy. The Hollis, Queens-native initially aspired to become a painter and both Basquiat and Keith Haring served as his modern-day inspirations. But Hype’s graffiti tagging art also morphed into a career behind the camera as an award-winning director.  He’s earned accolades from The Billboard Music Awards, VMAs and The NAACP Image Awards. In 1998, Williams leapt from the small screen to the big screen with his feature film debut, Belly, starring Nas.
