DCC Lecture to Examine National Security Policy

 

September 5, 2017 – Principles for a new U.S. security policy will be the focus of an upcoming lecture at Dutchess Community College.

 Dr. Ray Raymond, veteran of the British diplomatic corps, will deliver a lecture titled “The Constitution is Not an Optional Extra: Principles for a New U.S. National Security Policy” on Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. in the James and Betty Hall Theatre in Dutchess Hall. The event is being held to mark Constitution Day, and is free and open to the public.

Raymond served in the British diplomatic corps for two decades, working on NATO, political, military and transatlantic trade policy issues as well as diplomatic facets of counter-terrorism. He was a former senior advisor on higher education to British Prime Minister Tony Blair and has been honored by the U.S. Army Chief of Staff with the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal. He also is professor of government and history at SUNY Ulster.
