Obituary, James (Jamey) Lorand Rollins

James (Jamey) Lorand Rollins, age 64, lost his courageous battle with Cancer August 17, 2017 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. Born in Burlington Vermont December 19th, 1952. Jamey is survived by his parents, Leslie and Beverly Rollins of Millbrook NY, three brothers and spouses, Perry and Jeannette Rollins of Copake NY, Randy and Ginny Rollins Baltimore MD, and Matthew and Erin Rollins of Millbrook, NY. Also, several nieces and nephews who dearly loved their uncle.  Jamey grew up in the Glens Falls area and moved to Millbrook in 1963. Jamey always excelled in sports, especially football and along with his brother Perry started the track and field program at Millbrook High School. Known as an adventurer, he liked to camp in cold weather, take walks that lasted several days, cycled throughout New England, loved cliff climbing with his brothers and even would make his own kayaks out of wood and canvas. Later in life he filled his creative desire by making numerous decorative interior moldings.  Jamey was a professional painter and often told stories of ‘high rise’ painting in Florida. He spent most of his professional career working as Vice President of Rollins Associates, a family run business. He participated in several construction projects by performing the final finishes and details. The Rollins family wants to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from Jamey’s incredible friends throughout his illness. The sympathy and compassion for Jamey was nothing short of amazing. Jamey will leave a large void and will be well remembered by all who knew him.  Allen Funeral Home, Millbrook NY.
