Art Exhibit: Mythology & Mysterious Layers/Abstraction
Works by Joann Zwolzki & Nicole Hughes at Studio Around the Corner
The Cultural Arts Coalition will present their September Art Exhibit with works by Joann Zwolzki & Nicole Hughes at the Studio Around the Corner beginning September 8, 2017, at an opening reception from 7 to 9 PM. The show, entitled “Mythology & Mysterious Layers/Abstraction” will be exhibited at the Studio throughout the months of September during gallery hours on Saturdays, 12 – 2 PM and during other events at the Studio.
Joann Zwolski works in a wide variety of mediums but in particular acrylics, and watercolor. She also creates painted collages. Her work visually expresses a passion for color, line and texture. The color red is her favorite color. Red symbolizes joy and happiness. Her palette is full of brilliant hues from a wide spectrum. Her line is a gestural line. Her work is inspired by nature. She combines both abstract and thematic elements in her work.
Joann received her BFA from Pratt Institute and her MA from the College of New Rochelle. She has exhibited her artwork at several solo and group shows in the tri-state area and Delaware. She has taught art for over thirty years to students from kindergarten to high school at the Lakeland Central School District. Currently she teaches a drawing class to adults through Lakeland Continuing Education. She is on the Board of Trustees at the Putnam Arts Council in Mahopac, New York.
Nicole Hughes is a self-taught artist fueled by passion, an eye for beauty. Creating art as a place of refuge for her. It is a place that she calls her own, where she can rejuvenate, regroup and explore her self-being. Her artwork is a collection of colors, which blend and highlight each other. Inspiration work comes from the universe in front of her. Very often her pieces will go through a few stages until she feel the strokes and style are pleasing to her eye.
