Obituary, Doris Bell Greig (Dee)

 

Doris Bell Greig (Dee) of 76 South Kent Road, Gaylordsville, Connecticut passed away gently at home on August 6, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was 87 years old. Mrs. Greig was born March 12,1930 in Newark, New Jersey, daughter of the late Robert J. and Isabella (Lindsay) Bell. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Lindsay Bell.


Mrs. Greig was raised and educated in Mount Vernon, NY and graduated from A.B.Davis High School. She was married to James Richard Greig, March 11,1950, for 52 years before his passing in 2002. They lived in Hartsdale, NY from 1950-1986, where Doris was active in Girl Scouts, the PTA and St.


Paul’s Methodist Church. She was a Welcome Wagon hostess and employed by the Hartsdale Greenburgh School District as a school secretary. After moving to Gaylordsville,CT. in 1986, they travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and Africa, especially Scotland and Ireland. Doris Greig is survived by a son, two daughters and their families. Jamieson Greig, son, and wife Dorothy Wahl of Armonk, NY. Lindsay Ward, daughter, of Gaylordsville, CT, grandchildren Kyle Ward of Somerville, MA, Blaire Ward and husband, Jason Hamelehle of Lakewood, CO. Alisyn Hamilton, daughter, and husband Dan Hamilton, of Gaylordsville, CT, Daniel Hamilton, grandson, and wife Adrienne of Seymour, CT, granddaughter Ashley Hamilton and Ben Gilberg, and great grandchildren, Dexter Kernan and Alta Gilberg of Millbrook, NY.


Doris was a kind, caring, loving wife and mother who always put her family first. She loved them all dearly. Doris will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Gaylordsville United Methodist Church on September 9, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Morningside Cemetery, Gaylordsville.
