Thank you to the men and women of the Millerton Fire Company for 125 years of serving our community! I was happy to present a NY State Assembly citation and deliver my resolution passed by the Assembly earlier this year proclaiming May 4th as Volunteer Firefighters’ Appreciation Day in the State of New York. The vast majority of ALL municipal fire departments in this state are volunteer and a 2015 study by the Fire Association of NYS found that volunteer firefighters save NYS taxpayers $3.2 billion dollars annually in salaries and benefits alone. #thankafirefighter #ILoveMyDistrict
