Local Dairy History to be Presented
Alex Prizgintas will be giving an encore presentation of “Orange County Dairies & Their Milk Bottles” on Sunday, August 27th, 1:00 pm at the Sterling Forest Visitors Center (116 Old Forge Road, Tuxedo, NY 10987). “My last lecture about Orange County Dairies at the Chester Historical Society was filled to capacity!” explains Alex who speaks regularly on local history topics. This particular show has attracted numerous relatives and descendants from dairy farms like Burgess, Vics Board, and Distleberger, each sharing their own personal stories and insights. “Additionally, with each presentation there are so many additions and changes so that you would hardly recognize my early lectures to the ones I currently give. In fact, there have already been numerous changes and additions since November.”
Each one of Alex’s lectures come complete with a traveling mini museum. “The Dairy lecture is one of my more complicated shows since it involves bringing more than 100 bottles in 20 display cases” The photo above features a special new addition to the traveling show — an 8 foot tall milk bottle advertising piece based upon a real example of one used by Arden Farms. It arrived as a Christmas gift.
For more information about the lecture, please contact Alex at (845)-774-9723. The lecture is free and opened to the public. Be sure to bring your old milk bottles to the show!
Alex Prizgintas stands with some artifacts from the bygone Arden Farms, including a replica of an original wood advertising sign that will be at the show.
