Obituary, Theodore “Ted” Wagner

 

Poughkeepsie, NY – Theodore “Ted” Wagner, 81 of Poughkeepsie, NY, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at home. Ted was born on September 5, 1935 in Teplitz-Schoenau, Germany to the late Richard and Leopoldine Beck Wagner. He married his first wife Helga nee Meschke in 1958 and had two children, daughter Linda in 1965 and son Ralph in 1968. Helga predeceased him in 1992. Ted married Virginia nee Frunk on June 3, 1995 in Millbrook, NY, moved to Poughkeepsie in 1998 and survives at home.

Ted entered the United States in 1956 and resided in Manhattan and Brooklyn working as a pastry chef. He then moved his family to Millbrook, NY and soon after worked as a tool and dye maker for 33 years. Ted’s stories he told his family included that he was robbed twice and in 1960, an airplane crashed into his neighborhood, destroying his residence. He has been a member of the New Apostolic Church since May 4, 1958 as well as Germania and the Charles Steuben Society.

In addition to his beloved wife Virginia, Ted is survived by his daughter Linda, Son Ralph (Cathi) and granddaughters Sage, Samantha (Teddy), Jade and Ashley. He is predeceased by his first wife Helga and his in-laws, Willie and Hertha Meschke who also resided with the family in Millbrook, NY.

There are no calling hours. Anyone wishing to pay their respects may do so at a Graveside Service on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 1:00pm at Clove Valley Cemetery, 1875 Clove Road, LaGrangeville, NY 12540. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the New Apostolic Church Youth Fund of New Milford, CT in care of R. Baisch, 335 Oakhill Drive, Southbury, CT or Germania of Poughkeepsie, 37 Old DeGarmo Rd. Poughkeepsie, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the William G.
