Wingdale man sentenced to one to three years in state prison

Daniel Kriz, a 49-year-old from Wingdale was sentenced On Tuesday,  to one to three years in state prison after being convicted of first-degree criminal contempt, a felony.

Putnam District Attorney Robert Tendy said Kriv ignored an order of protection and continued to harass his former girlfriend.

Tendy had restructured his office so every prosecutor understood the complexities of handling domestic violence cases.

“Often, by the time a victim of domestic violence contacts the police, there has been a lengthy history of abuse,” Tendy said in a statement. “We strive to let our victims know that their voices are heard, and we will work with all our multi-disciplinary partners to make sure victims are safe and their needs are addressed while holding their abusers accountable. Every domestic violence case is different and must be handled that way.”
