California man arrested in Village of Catskill

PRESS RELEASE

On August 4, 2017, State Police at Catskill arrested Nicholas Distano, age 49, of Los Angeles, Ca. for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree (both class D felonies) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree ( a class A misdemeanor). The arrest was the result of a joint investigation conducted by the State Police, Village of Catskill Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Greene County District Attorney’s Office. Distano is accused of selling methamphetamine in the Village of Catskill. Upon apprehending Distano, he was found to be in possession of a rifle. It was later determined that he was also a Fugitive From Justice from the State of California, where he was wanted for a Parole Violation. Distano was arraigned before Catskill Village Justice Richard Paolino and was committed to the Greene County Jail without bail.
