Putnam Valley, New York – On August 6, 2017 at approximately 10:20 p.m, New York State Police from the Stormville barracks were dispatched to a two-car motor vehicle collision that occurred on the Taconic State Parkway in the area of Bullet Hole Road.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 Saturn SL, operated by 23-year-old Joseph C. Licurse of LaGrange, N.Y., was traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway.  Licurse’s vehicle exited the roadway for an unknown reason and struck an earth embankment.  The Saturn overturned and came to rest blocking both northbound lanes.  Another northbound vehicle, operated by Ray C. Butler, age 28, of Mohegan Lake, subsequently struck Licurse’s vehicle on the driver’s side.

Licurse was extricated from the vehicle by Putnam Valley Fire Department and transported to Westchester medical Center via helicopter. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Butler was transported to Westchester Medical Center via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.  The State Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Cortlandt by calling (914) 769-2600.
