Carmel man arrested subsequent to traffic stop on Route 6

Carmel, New York – On July 30, 2017, New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested Miguel O. Melendez, age 21, of Carmel, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony.

Troopers stopped a vehicle without a front license plate on Route 6 in Carmel.  An investigation revealed that the vehicle, which was operated by Melendez, had a counterfeit New York State Inspections sticker affixed to the windshield.

Melendez was arraigned in the Town of Southeast Court before the Honorable Judge Folchetti and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
