Queens man charged with possessing stolen vehicle

Bedford, New York – On July 28, 2017, New York State Police from the Somers barracks arrested 21-year-old Jose O. Amaya Serrano of Queens, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony.

At approximately 3:43 p.m., Troopers were dispatched to a disabled vehicle in the area of 17.4 northbound on Interstate 684.  The Ford F250, which was located on the side of the interstate, was discovered to be stolen from Flushing, Queens.  While canvasing the area to locate the driver, a State Police Sergeant located Amaya Serrano walking on the southbound side of I-684 and placed him in custody.

An investigation indicated that Amaya Serrano had stolen the vehicle in Queens and was traveling to Connecticut.

Amaya Serrano was arraigned in the Town of Bedford Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail.
