Brewster Chamber of Commerce is getting ready to celebrate – 1957 style. Chamber members will be exhibiting displays of what their industry might have looked like 60 years ago vs. how they look in the present. Do you remember what styles of eyeglasses were popular or the looks of a 1950’s sock hop? Come down to Wells Park and relive the 1950’s or experience it for the first time!

Just to name a few of the awesome themes:

  • Schechs pool is doing a 50’s beach theme; what did a home pool, patios look like?
  • Brewster Fire Department will be showing how fire safety has improved; they will show off an old fire truck.
  • Dog Park Concepts and Consulting – Antique and Collectible Dog Items!
  • Centennial Golf Club- Golf Trends of 1957!
  • Brewster Ice Arena – Ice Hockey trends of the 50’s…Did you know that helmets and face masks were not worn?
  • Brewster Sports Foundation- Throw Back to a 1950’s School Sock Hop
  • Tony T Orchestra will be performing the top hits of the era all day, vintage cars will be on display and there will be tons of fun for the family with Trivia Scavenger Hunt and a Penny Social – fill up your “trivia” card for chance to win a pair of Ray Ban Sunglasses, gift certificates, sporting goods and so much more….
  • Plenty of games and activities for everyone: Rock Painting, Puppet Making, Contests, Hop Scotch, Hula Hoops, Dance Contests and more! Seven Star School of Performing Arts will be doing a retro dance instruction at 3pm and The Brewster Ice Arena will be having a 1950’s Hockey Shoot Out.
  • Local food vendors; Wandering Dave’s Fork in the Road, Italian American Club, and Uncle Louie G’s Ice Cream will be in the park for food purchases.

Bill Flash, VP of Brewster Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of SHINDIG stated, “This event is an opportunity for Chamber businesses to interact with the community at a fun historical event. We want to make it fun and free so the whole community can come out to celebrate our town and the vital role the Brewster Chamber continues to play”.
