40 Year Old Wallet Recovered at John Jay H.S.

Last week East Fishkill Police Chief Kevin Keefe was contacted by John Jay Assistant Principal Paul Albanese. During summer renovations a work crew discovered a girl’s wallet hidden in a classroom ceiling. When inspecting the wallet, Mr. Albanese discovered it had been placed there in 1977. The Chief being a 1977 John Jay Grad was called to help locate the owner after these 40 years. Mr. Albanese noted that looking through the wallet which contained many now vintage photographs, notes, library card and school documents, was like looking at a time capsule of the life of a John Jay sophomore at that time. The family was from the same Fishkill neighborhood as the Chief and he was able to locate the owner’s brother, also a ‘77 John Jay graduate. The woman who belongs to the wallet has since moved to the Mid-West and arrangements are being made to return the wallet to her family.
