NY-19 Candidate Jeff Beals Makes Progressive Case at “Meet the Democratic Candidates” Forum

LIBERTY, NY (JULY 20, 2017) – Woodstock history teacher, grassroots activist and former diplomat Jeff Beals participated in a “Meet the Democratic Candidates” Forum at the Liberty Senior Center last night and made a case for a progressive candidate rooted in the district and able to reach out to its diverse constituents as a teacher, farmer, and U.S. diplomat with unrivaled experience and distinction in his service overseas.

Beals, who last month launched his campaign and “Eleven County Strategy” at an event with more than 120 supporters from across the district, laid out his vision for defeating John Faso.

“We have a Representative who is voting to pollute our rivers and strip thousands of us and our children of healthcare, “he said. “I am the only candidate who has a decade of US government experience, who was decorated for that work by our military and our state department, who works in a two-income family here in the district, and who has roots in a family farm in the Hudson Valley that connect me deeply to issues rural and urban. That is what it will take to bring all our diverse constituencies together and to defeat John Faso.”

Beals expanded on his plan to unite the district over the coming months with a series of citizen-led policy forums on key issues.  He announced his first “UniteNY19” forum, which will focus on Healthcare, inviting citizens to Colony in Woodstock on August 2nd at 6PM (more information here). The forum will feature voices of citizens, local experts and artists from across the district.

“We are building a movement for the change we want in New York’s 19th Congressional District,” Beals said. “We’re going to bring together the best minds and most committed activists for roundtables on every issue we care about. We have the ideas to solve the biggest problems in our district, right here.”
