Two arrested for Robbery in the Town of Ulster

On July 11, 2017, the New York State Police at Kingston arrested JAQWAN M. FOSTER, age 22, of Kingston, N.Y. and NICHOLAS J. LANE, age 21, of Connelly, N.Y. for Robbery in the First Degree stemming from a 911 call that occurred in the Town of Ulster.

Members of the New York State Police, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Ulster Police responded to a 911 call for a reported armed robbery that occurred at a known swimming hole off of Devil’s Lake Road in East Kingston. A description of the two suspects was included in the 911 dispatch. A New York State Trooper observed two subjects matching the description provided by the victims and both FOSTER and LANE were taken into custody.

During the course of the robbery, LANE punched a victim and FOSTER displayed a knife while forcibly taking the victim’s wallet and cell phone.  The proceeds of the robbery where recovered near the scene.

FOSTER and LANE were arraigned in the Town of Ulster Court before Town Judge Marsha Weiss and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail. The New York State Police were assisted by the Town of Ulster Police Department and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office throughout the course of this investigation.
