Traffic stop leads to loaded gun

On Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 9:45 PM the New York State Police stopped a vehicle on St-45 in the Town of Haverstraw and subsequently found a loaded .22 caliber revolver in possession of the driver.  Jenic Bryant-Umphlett, 22, of Brooklyn was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.  Additionally, a quantity of crack cocaine and marijuana were also located in the vehicle.  Bryant-Umphlett and three passengers, Dajwon Jamal Lee Hatcher, 21, of Charlotte, NC, Jose Valverde, 25, of New York, NY and Brandon Fontanez, 24, of New York, NY were each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, and possession of marijuana.in the fifth degree.  They were remanded to Rockland County Jail pending future court appearances.
