Obituary, Debra M. Gallagher

 

Salt Point – Debra M. Gallagher, 61, of Salt Point, died unexpectedly on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center at Poughkeepsie.

Born on June 14, 1955 in Rhinebeck, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Miles) Hoysradt. Debra was a graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park.

She was a Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service since 2005. She began working in the Pleasant Valley Post Office and most recently, worked at the Poughkeepsie Post Office. Before working for the postal service, she was a dental assistant with Dr. Joseph Dell in Poughkeepsie.

On June 21, 1975 in Hyde Park, Debra married Oscar Gallagher. Mr. Gallagher currently survives at home in Salt Point.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Brian G. Gallagher, of Salt Point; son, John H. Gallagher, and his wife, Heather, of Whitwell, TN; five grandchildren: Annastasia, Jackson, Liliana, Ava, and Kaylynn Gallagher; brother, Wayne Lund, of Pleasant Valley; sister, Dawn Simmons, of Broadalbin, NY; sister, Brenda White, of Clinton Corners; and several nieces and nephews.

Debra was predeceased by her parents and by two sisters, Donna Cross and Lovey Simmons.

Calling hours will be from 4-7pm on Thursday, June 15th at Sweet’s Funeral Home, 4365 Albany Post Rd, Hyde Park.

A Graveside Service will be at 11 AM on Friday, June 16th at Union Cemetery, 1076 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park.
