Spotlight Arts is proud to announce the summer casts of “HAIRSPRAY”
Spotlight Arts Inc., a youth theatre company in Brewster, NY just started rehearsals for “HAIRSPRAY” last week and is thrilled to announce its summer casts of local talent who will perform the musical at the Brewster High School Performing Arts Center on July 21, 22 and 23. It’s 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, has only one desire – to dance on the popular “Corny Collins Show.” When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network… all without denting her ‘do! Mara Savarese of New Rochelle plays Tracy in Cast A and Brewster’s Taylor Byrne plays the starring role in Cast B. “I’m so excited to be able to play a role I’ve dreamed of playing since I was seven years old,” Taylor adds. “I already can’t wait to put on this production with such a talented cast!”

Eric Leiggi returns to direct and choreograph the mainstage production with Spotlight Arts executive producer Stephanie Rubino as the production’s producer and musical director. Stage management by Sarah Daleo of Patterson, NY and Alicia Gaffey of Pawling, NY.
Spotlight Arts Inc.’s production of “HAIRSPRAY” will take the stage at the Brewster High School Performing Arts Center: 50 Foggintown Rd, Brewster, NY. Cast A performs on July 21 at 7:30pm and July 22 at 2:00pm. Cast B performs on July 22 at 7:30pm and July 23 at 2:00pm.
