Obituary, Henry Lewis

 

Poughkeepsie – Henry Lewis of Poughkeepsie died Monday May 29, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born in Newburgh, New York on January 4, 1931, he was the son of the late Hazel and Marion E. Botzer Lewis. On April 30, 1977 at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church he married Gloria G. Evans, she survives at home.

Henry was a Auto Mechanic at Broadway Buick in Newburgh and then went on to work at Mt. Saint Mary’s College in the maintenance department.

Henry served in the United States Army during the Korea Conflict. He enjoyed working on all types of cars. Henry us to race cars at the Dover Race Track in Dover Plains, he loved to bowl and spend time with his grandchildren.

Henry is survived by his wife Gloria, his stepchildren Ronald Evans and his companion Linda Melius of Durham, NY., Donald W. Evans and his wife Lynne of Milton, NY., Cherrie Pelton and her husband Tom of Central Square, NY. and Timothy Evans and his wife Robin of Highland, NY. Henry is also survived by his grandchildren Donald Evans Jr, Angela Evans, Maria Evans, Crystall Morel, Holly Pelton, Christopher Evans, Melissa Evans, Joseph LaMonica, Christine Reinoehl, Courtney Evans, Kimberly Evans, Timothy Evans Jr., Tyler Evans and 16 great grandchildren.

Henry was also predeceased by his daughter Deborah Lewis McQuillin and sister Mabel Cornell.

Calling hours will be held Sunday June 4, 2017 from 2pm to 5pm at 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.

Funeral Services will be held 10am Monday June 5, 2017 at the Funeral Home with Burial to follow at Union Cemetery Hyde Park, New York.
