Patterson Car Fire

On Monday, May 29, 2017, just minutes before the start of the annual Patterson Memorial Day Parade, the Patterson Fire Dept. was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident, was a car possibly on fire. The Putnam Lake Dept. and Patterson EMS were also dispatched.

Patterson Assistant Chief Tom Gamache was first to arrive, finding a three-car accident. All occupants were out of the vehicles, however one car was fully-involved in fire.

Patterson Fire Dept. Heavy Rescue 22-6-1 and Engine/Tanker 22-4-2 arrived almost simultaneously. Units stretched lines and quickly extinguished the fire.

Patterson Fire Police 22-8-1 assisted the New York State Police with shutting down the eastbound lanes of I-84 until fire department operations were concluded.

Patterson Fire Dept. Ambulance 22-7-2 arrived and staged. Putnam Lake Assistant Chief Greg Gagliardo assisted at the scene; Engine/Tanker 23-2-5 was staged on Route 311 for additional water and manpower.

Units returned to service, unfortunately just after the Memorial Day service concluded. The Patterson Fire Dept. No. 1, Inc. would like to offer a sincere thank you to all of our veterans, especially to those that made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom.
