The Dover Plains Library Welcomes Its New Intern

 

Erika Palombo is a graduate student at the University of Albany (SUNY) in the Master of Science in Information Science with a concentration in Library and Information Services. Her interests are Library Administration and Technical Services in Public Libraries, as well as Collection Development & Management. She is currently a Library Clerk at the Millbrook Library. Additionally, she has prior experience as a Library Clerk at East Fishkill Community Library. Her anticipated graduation is December 2017.

During her internship, Erika’s projects will focus on assisting with the Dover Plains Library’s Summer Reading Program, which this year will include a weekly “Coding Club” with Scratch and a “littleBits” Club. Scratch is a coding program that allows kids to learn basic coding through a computer program to create interactive stories, games and animations through coding building blocks (Check out https://scratch.mit.edu/ to find out more). The “littleBits” Club will focus on building circuits and robots. The “Coding Club” will be held on Tuesdays from 11am-4pm and the “littleBits” Club will be held on Thursdays from 11am-4 pm, both on a walk-in basis. This year’s Summer Reading theme is “Build A Better World”.

The Dover Plains Library is an association library serving the communities of Dover Plains & Wingdale, NY; it is a member of the Mid-Hudson Library System.
