Visitors may begin the June 3rd Open Day at any of the following locations:

  • Garden of Peter Bevacqua & Stephen King, 442 New York State 23B at Willmon Road, Claverack; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – a two-acre garden divided into many spaces, including a sun garden surrounded by yew hedges, an evening garden, greenhouse borders, and a boxwood cloud hedge; features a pop-up plant sale on site with Pond Side Nursery.
  • Ketay Garden, 6121 Route 9H & Route 23, Claverack; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – features an allée of maple and ash trees, garden rooms divided by perennials, shrubs and trees, an expansive meadow framed by Catskill Mountain views, and several pergolas with climbers such as kiwi and yellow trumpet vine.
  • Texas Hill, 411 Texas Hill Road, Hillsdale; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – featuring old and new stone walls and patios, a spring fed pond, and a blended balance between a formal density near the house and a more open naturalistic or wild feeling radiating out toward the pond, the lawns, the meadows, the woods, and the view.
  • Hudson Hood, 72 North Third Street, Hudson; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – an urban, shot-gun style garden centered on an old tulip tree, and featuring topiaries of holly, boxwood, spruce, privet, and heather, as well as a Modernist-inspired sunken walled garden with a koi pond and sculpture collection.
  • Versailles on Hudson, 5 Rossman Avenue, Hudson; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – features carefully-designed multi-level stone patios and easy access stairways that guide you down to a fountain focal point, dramatic views of the river, hills, and sunsets, grand sweeping lawns, long flowing hydrangea and hornbeam hedges, and architectural boxwood balls to compliment the 1903 house.

All Open Days gardens are featured in the 2017 Open Days Directory; a soft-cover book that includes detailed driving directions and vivid garden descriptions written by their owners, plus a complementary ticket for admission to one private garden.
