Obituary, Phyllis C. Fredriks

 

 

Pine Plains, NY – Phyllis C. Fredriks, 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday 22, 2017 at The Whittier Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center in Ghent, NY.

She was born on July 11, 1950 in Queens, NY the daughter of Herbert and Eva (Maguire) Striffler.

Upon graduating high school, she attended the Clara Maass Hospital of School of Nursing. She graduated in 1971 with a Diploma in Nursing. She also became a certified Lamaze instructor and taught area childbirth classes. Her focus in the area of nursing was Labor and Delivery, working at both Northern Dutchess and Sharon Hospitals.

She was a Girl Scout Leader, member of the Pine Plains Ladies Auxiliary. A member of the local book club and volunteer at the Sharon Congregation Church.

She was an avid reader, jewelry maker, spending time at the beach and enjoyed sewing.

Her greatest joy was being in the presence of her grandchildren.

On January 15, 1972 in Wayne, NJ she married Ronald M. Fredriks. He survives her at home.

In addition to her loving husband Ron, survivors include three daughters, Beth Murray (Neil) of Clinton Corners, NY; Sharon Norcott (Tim) of Atkinson, NH; Laura Jorgensen (Todd) of Agawam, MA; a son, Noah Fredriks (Elise) of Melbourne, FL; a brother, Bill Striffler of Sussex, NJ; nine grandchildren, Neil, Kieran, Emma, Mackenzie, Aidan, Dylan, Cameron, Josephine and Peter.

Memorial calling hours are 4 to 7 pm on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 7749 South Main St. Pine Plains.

Funeral services are at 11 am on Saturday May 27, 2017 from the Sharon Congregational Church, 25 Main St. Sharon, CT with Pastor, Jody Guerrera officiating.

Interment will be at the convenience of family.
