Poughkeepsie Woman Arrested for Promoting Prison Contraband

On May 20th, 2017, the members of the New York State Police, Troop F, at SP Ellenville, announce the arrest of a female for Promoting Prison Contraband in the Town of Wawarsing N.Y.

On May 20th, 2017, the New York State Police arrested Amanda L. Lewis, age 32, of Poughkeepsie, New York for Promoting Prison Contraband 1st, 6 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and Possession a Controlled Substance Outside of its Original Container.

The New York State Police conducted an investigation into LEWIS after a New York State Department of Corrections K9 Officer found a prescription bottle in her possessions containing six different types of controlled substances. LEWIS entered the facility to visit an acquaintance while possessing the narcotics. Additionally, LEWIS was found to possess a marijuana cigarette and a marijuana grinder in her vehicle also on prison grounds.

Amanda Lewis was arrested and processed at SP Ellenville. She was arraigned in the Town of Rochester Court before Town Justice Albert Babcock and was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $250.00 cash bail or $500.00 secured bond and is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Wawarsing Court on 05/24/17 at 1:00pm.
