Obituary, Frank Travis

 

 

Frank Travis, a very active 92+ year old, ended life as he would want it, due to complications sustained while supervising at a job site, working as he loved to work.  He passed away Monday, May 16, 2017 at Vassar Hospital, Poughkeepsie, NY.
A resident of Red Hook, NY since 1988, formerly of Dutchess County, he was born in Putnam Valley, NY on September 8, 1924, and was the son of George and Anna (Odell) Travis.  A WWII Navy veteran combat engineer of the Seabees stationed at Pearl Harbor, he came home to a long life as a specialty stone mason and contractor, running his own business in Dutchess and Putnam counties.
Frank is predeceased by his wife, Velma (Teague) Travis.
He is survived by three sons, George of Lincoln, MA, Kenneth and wife, Debra, of Dover Plains, NY, and David of Wassaic, NY; three daughters, Lorraine Landgraf of Colorado Springs, CO, D. Lowery of Jacksonville, FL, and Susan Travis of Franklin, TN; a brother, Lee Travis of Hopewell Junction, NY; 14 grandchildren, Dylan Travis, Kaylee Dunagan, Samantha Yager, Kyle Yager, Caitlin Yager, Kyra Travis, Benjamin Travis, Matthew Travis, Jo Lowery, Ja Lowery, Kimberly Landgraf, Jennifer Landgraf, Adam Landgraf, and Keith Landgraf; and a multitude of great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Sunday, May 21st from 9-10 AM.  A graveside service will follow in the Clove Cemetery, Union Vale, NY at 11 AM.
