***UPDATE**** 

On May 16, 2017, at 9:20 a.m., Chief Arnold Amthor, Chief of Police for the Town of Montgomery Police Department and the Officer in Charge of the Village of Maybrook Police Department, along with officers, responded to a domestic incident on Abbey Lane in Maybrook, NY.

During the interview with the suspect, Anthony Bostick, age 28, there was an exchange of gunfire and Chief Amthor was struck in the upper torso.

Chief Amthor was taken to St Luke’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The subject, Anthony Bostick, was located deceased at the scene.

The New York State Police, in conjunction with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, are continuing the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police Montgomery BCI at 845-457-1388.

Assisting at the scene were New York State Police Special Operations Response Team (SORT), Orange County Sheriff’s Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Village of Maybrook PD, Town of Montgomery PD, Village of Harriman PD, Chester PD, City of Newburgh and Town of Newburgh PD. and multiple Fire and EMS agencies.

State Troopers, State Police investigators and a negotiator are on scene.

A subject is barricaded in a residence at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
