Obituary, Richard H. “Dick” Beneway

 

Clinton – Richard H. “Dick” Beneway, , 86, of Clinton, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, NY.

Born on December 17, 1930, in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Chester and Estelle (Huber) Beneway. He graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1947.

Richard served in the US Army from 1951-1953.

He worked as a machinist at Neilson Gage in Poughkeepsie, as well as being a painter and groundskeeper/property manager at local estates. Richard retired in 2006 after working at the Melville Estate in Hyde Park and then for many years at the Fitch’s Corners Estate in Millbrook.

Richards favorite past time was hunting and fishing with his father and friends. He fished the Ashokan, local streams, and lakes. His family had many meals prepared from whatever he brought home from the woods or lake in addition to whatever he grew from his bountiful garden. He enjoyed putting together model cars and planes.

He spent each day with his loyal poodle companion, Annie.

He was a past member of the Stone Church Fish Club in Hyde Park and was active in many of the local hunting clubs.

He was a Estate Manager, employed by Various- Millbrook, NY.He is survived by his extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, George Beneway, and his companion, Marie Papele.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Schultville Cemetery, Schultzville, NY. The Reverend Thomas L. Hartley will officiate.
