Amanda Scoca a  Junior from Pawling HS wins First Place in New York State SkillsUSA Culinary Arts competition and to be sent to Nationals

 

 

Pawling, NY:  Amanda Scoca, 16 year old Pawling HS Junior, has won 1st Place in the New York State SkillsUSA Culinary Arts competition held in Syracuse, NY on April 28, 2017 and is headed to Nationals in Kentucky. Scoca was the first Junior HS student from Dutchess County BOCES to attend the SkillsUSA NY State competition for Culinary Arts after placing second at the SkillsUSA Regionals competition.

While training for the National Competition, Scoca continues to volunteer for the Pawling Fire Department and works at both a bakery and a restaurant in her local community.  She is an honor roll student and is a part of Pawling’s Interact Club. She also participates in Varsity soccer.

According to the website; SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has world-class skilled workers, leaders and responsible American citizens.

After winning the State competition Scoca said “I can’t believe it … this is amazing; a dream come true”

Scoca hopes that winning States and going to Nationals will further her goal to be accepted into one of the top Culinary Colleges so as to fulfill her dream of working in the culinary field.
