Obituary, Linda L. Curran

 

MOIRA – Linda L. Curran passed away on May 8, 2017, at the Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where she had been a patient since April 22.

She was born in Potsdam, New York, on June 29, 1938, the daughter of Kenneth and Lola (Newtown) Lucas. She graduated from Brasher Falls Central School and the Hepburn School of Nursing in Ogdensburg, New York, as a registered nurse.

Linda was united in marriage to Patrick J. Curran at Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton, New York on Sept. 12, 1964. He survives her, along with their five children: Kenneth (Lynn) Blair of Shirley, New York, Dawn (Ernie) Barney of Brushton, Patrick (Victoria) Curran of Townsend, Massachusetts, Kimberly Curran of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Kevin Curran of Buffalo, New York. Her seven grandchildren: Eric, Aaron, Kenny, Nicole, John. Alannah and Martin; seven-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Rita Hutchins, also survive her.

As an RN, Linda worked at hospitals in Wingdale, Potsdam and Malone. Her position at the office of Dr. Jonathan Lowell and Dr. Glen Champagne is where she made many longtime friends who still talk about the care she gave them. Linda retired in 2000.

Besides her parents, her first husband, Richard Blair, and her siblings Eileen Miller and Keith Lucas predecease her.

Linda served as the secretary of the Maple Leaf Housing Board up until the time of her death, and on the Franklin County Board of Elections for local and school elections. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and for many years could be seen bowling at Gervais Lane or Big D’s House two nights a week.

A time of visitation will be held Thursday,May 18, 2017, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 1347 Washington Street, Brushton, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding. Interment will commence within the parish cemetery.
