The Cloud & The Crowd

 

 

On Friday, May 19 at 7 p.m. join the Cary Institute for a special screening of the PBS documentary The Cloud & The Crowd and discover the power of citizen science in the digital age. Learn how citizens are helping to advance science by observing the environment, collecting information, and sharing data on everything from the movement of monarchs to the timing of bud burst.

Concerned about the environment and inspired to part of the solution? Following the film, there will be an interactive panel discussion on citizen science opportunities in the Hudson Valley. Panelists will include Chris Bowser (NYS DEC, American Eel Project), Laura Heady (NYS DEC, Amphibian Migration and Road Crossings Project), Stuart Findlay (Cary Institute, Hudson River Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Project), and Vicky Kelly (Cary Institute, Fern Glen Phenology Trail).

Representatives of the Waterman Bird Club and Friends of the Great Swamp will also be available to provide insight into additional volunteer citizen science opportunities.
