This weekend is Mother’s Day, when we remember the moms who nurtured and supported our creativity. Hudson Valley Art Market (HVArtMarket) in collaboration with Walkway Over the Hudson proudly presents highly curated artist and artisans, musings and musicians, sippings and samplings in addition to multi-generational Make-Your-Own gifts in honor of Mother’s Day. Come and enjoy some of the Hudson Valley’s finest artists, artisans, to find the perfect presents for the moms and/or grandmoms. Location: Walkway East (Poughkeepsie) entrance on Saturday, May 13: 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (Sunday raindate)

Saturday there is a special performance at Storm King Art Center by Chargaux at The Oracle of Lacuna, a site-specific installation by 2017 Outlooks artist Heather Hart. Chargaux is Charly + Margaux, a rebellious art collective and contemporary musical ensemble currently traveling and collecting inspiration with a focus on releasing original music. They exhibit multimedia works and perform with their band using artist and music residencies as a platform. Chargaux’s performance is ongoing and visitors are encouraged to drop in at any point between 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Saturday afternoon there is an author talk and book signing at the Cragsmoor Historical Society. In “The Borscht Belt,” Catskills photographer, Marisa Scheinfeld, uncovers the forgotten world of this once vibrant vacation destination in her dramatic and evocative photographs. Presenting over one hundred stunning images of dozens of hotel and bungalow sites, this new book takes the viewer deep into the heart of the lost world of the Borscht Belt. The historic art colony of Cragsmoor is located on top of the Shawangunk Ridge off Route 52 between Ellenville and Pine Bush. 4:30 p.m. Cragsmoor Historical Society 349 Cragsmoor Road.
This Sunday there is an exhibition-inspired, hands-on activities for children and their families with Museum Educator Zachary Bowman. Don’t forget to register in advance! 2:00-4:30 p.m. The Dorsky Museum at SUNY New Paltz.

RHINEBECK CHAMBER MUSIC SOCIETY
On Sunday the Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society presents The Puck Quartet performing the Shostakovich Quartet No. 8 in C Minor, op. 110 and Bartok Quartet No. 1, Sz. 40 and also featuring German clarinetist Sebastian Lambertz performing one of the gems of chamber music: Mozart’s clarinet quintet in A Major K. 581. 3:00 p.m.

MAPS FOR A WAR TOURIST
Mt. Tremper Arts presents Maps for a War Tourist, an investigative performance that follows Ayse Deniz Karacagil, a young Turkish woman arrested during the Gezi protests of 2013 and sentenced to a maximum of 98 years in prison for wearing a red scarf. The rising cross-cultural theater company Sister Sylvester uses documentary techniques in parallel with fiction to explore relationships of power.
