Greetings Art Lovers:
This week started off with our grants awards reception, graciously hosted by Buttermilk Farms. The New York State Council on the Arts funding was distributed for arts events and programs across Dutchess, Ulster, and Orange Counties – over $116,000 will go right back into our Mid-Hudson regional economy creating a great economic impact, as well as making our communities a good place to live, work and do business. Tonight is the 4th Annual Spring Reading Series presented by Voice Theatre – Finks by Joe Gilford will remind us all of the 50’s and McCarthyism – 7:00 p.m. at New World Home Cooking in Saugerties.

Friday night CAPS presents an Evening with Eamon Grennon, awardee of a number of Pushcart Prizes, he has also received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation. ROOST Studios in New Paltz – 8:00 p.m.

Saturday at the Beatrix Farrand Garden The Barefoot Dance Company will perform a site specific dance which explores the landscape and architecture of the garden. Within this beautiful secret garden, dancers merge with delicate spaces, play with proximity, and dive into the depths of the natural surroundings. Free, 1:00 and 2:15 p.m. Free at the Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site (Rain date, May 7).
It’s First Saturday in Kingston! At the Shirt Factory there is an open house (noon-5:00 p.m.) explore open studios in the building, including ten Kingston-Based jewelers are showing works at Hudson Valley Silverworks at the Shirt Factory Suite 211 – 77 Cornell Street. Just down the street The Unity Show at Lace Mill featuring artists from the Mid-town artist factory buildings. Other openings throughout Kingston on the calendar! 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Saturday the Tivoli Artists Gallery opens their annual landscape show, “The Big Picture…and Small Details,” featuring traditional to unconventional; rural to cityscapes; and abstract to representational. 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Monday night, enjoy a talk by author Donna Seaman, “Identity Unknown: Rediscovering Seven American Women Artists,” bringing to life seven forgotten women artists. Adriance Memorial Public Library-Charwat Meeting Room, ground floor. 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
