Obituary, Orville W. Langlois

 

 

Orville W. Langlois, 83, a longtime Dover resident, died on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Mr. Langlois was a foreman at Pawling Corporation in Pawling, NY and later worked as a supervisor at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, NY and Middletown Psychiatric Center in Middletown, NY. He was born June 21, 1933 in Westville, NY, the son of the late Warren and Eunice (Riordan) Langlois. He was the valedictorian of the Franklin Academy Class of 1952 in Malone, NY. On February 25, 1999 in Poughquag, NY, he married Joan Yutzler Finley who survives at home.
Mr. Langlois played and sang country music for years with various area bands. He was a member of the American Folk Music Association and a life member of the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Julie Cartwright, and her husband, Joseph, of Malone, NY; Deborah Setaro, and her husband, Michael, of Millbrook, NY; Susan Davis, and her husband, Paul, of Dover Plains, NY and Aleatha Smalley, and her husband, John, Jr., of Dover Plains and five stepchildren, Alan Finley, and his wife, Heather, of Clinton Corners, NY; Brian Finley and his wife, Cynthia, of Chatham, NY; Beth Ferris and her husband, Randy, of Wingdale, NY, Shirley Hewlett and her husband, Donald, of Pennsylvania and Rebecca Richard of Millbrook, NY. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a daughter, Linda Rozell, three brothers and two sisters.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Bouffard officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club, P.O. Box 660, Dover Plains, NY 12522.
