Suspicious Barn Fire in Livingston investigated by State Police BCI

On April 20, 2017 at approximately 12:10 am The New York State Police at Livingston responded to a report of an unknown fire on State Route 9 in the Town of Livingston.  A good Samaritan passerby reported the fire to the State Police.

Columbia County 911 dispatched the Livingston Fire District under the command of Chief Paul Jahns to the scene of the fully involved barn fire.

The barn was deemed a total loss upon arrival.  It was reported that the barn was a vacant barn.  The Columbia County Cause and Origin team responded to the scene and assisted the New York State Police and the Livingston Fire Department.

The fire that engulfed the barn is currently under investigation by the Bureau of Investigation.  The State Police have determined the fire to be suspicious in nature and are actively investigating the fire.

The State Police is requesting the public’s assistance in this matter.  Anyone who may have driven through the area around the time of the fire or anyone with information about the cause or any suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact the State Police at 518-851-2972.
